Mom and I opened an art school in Romania

i spent 3 months in Romania. 🇷🇴

I flew back home to help build the school I envisioned when daydreaming in Hawai’i years ago. It’s a whole tribe. Mom is my partner in a life mission.

The new generation might need a fresh boost of “growing up” and new tools to face life and, therefore, themselves.

We’re located in the heart of what was once a village, Varteju.

When we were little, raising the children did take a village.

We were one with nature.

We were safe to roam the dirt streets and climb the trees.

There is a taste of innovation and staying connected to the roots.

Art, global cultures, and community lay the foundation of our activities and classes.

Kids sing, paint, play chess, and learn English, to name a few.

One Saturday evening , we opened our outdoor cinema for everyone in our Ilfov area.

So far, I have one thing to say: It’s heavy teamwork.

It’s learning how to balance intention & logistics.

It’s taking notes from the lioness women I work with and watching their way of leading the pack, yet trusting the voice within when it’s time to redirect the course.

I haven’t photographed daily like I used to, but it’ll be worth not looking through the Fujifilm viewfinder just so I can see the school and the community grow.

Romanian is taking over my English brain; therefore, watch out for the Draculan accent when we next meet.
